St. Lucie Court System & Jurisdictions

St. Lucie County is part of the 19th Judicial Circuit of Florida, which also covers Indian River, Martin, and Okeechobee counties. There are two levels of general jurisdiction courts here — Circuit Court and County Court — each handling different categories of cases.

Circuit Court

This is the higher court at the county level. It handles:

  • Felony criminal cases (serious crimes)
  • Civil lawsuits over $50,000
  • Family law — divorce, child custody, alimony (information on filing for divorce)
  • Probate and guardianship cases
  • Juvenile cases

The Circuit Criminal Division maintains records of all felony cases. These cases can be searched through the Criminal section on the clerk's website.

County Court

County Court is a court of limited jurisdiction. It handles:

  • Misdemeanors (minor offenses)
  • Traffic violations
  • Civil lawsuits up to $50,000
  • Small claims cases — up to $8,000
  • Eviction cases

Appeals from County Court usually go to Circuit Court. Appeals from Circuit Court are handled by the Fourth District Court of Appeal, and information on appellate cases can be found in the Florida Appellate Case Information System.

If you are unsure which court is handling your case, start by searching by last name or case number on the Court Case Search page — the system will show the case type and the corresponding division.

St. Lucie Court Calendar & Upcoming Hearings

The daily court schedule is published on the Clerk of the Circuit Court's website. The schedule is regularly updated and allows you to see scheduled hearings for today, tomorrow, or the week.

To check the schedule:

  1. Go to the Public Search portal of the county clerk.
  2. Select the Daily Court Schedule option.
  3. Choose the date and court division — Circuit or County.

The schedule usually lists the judge's name, courtroom number, case number, party names, and hearing time. Some hearings may be closed to the public — for example, juvenile cases or certain family proceedings.

Information on arrests and individuals in custody can be checked separately through the Inmate Lookup on the county sheriff's website. It displays data on inmates up to five days after release.

How to Get a Copy of a St. Lucie Court Document

Copies of court documents are issued by the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. There are two types of copies — uncertified and certified. A certified copy contains the official seal of the clerk and confirms the authenticity of the document.

Ways to Obtain Copies

  • Online: registered users can view and download certain documents through the Court Case Search. Full access to some records requires registration according to the Florida Court Records Access Security Matrix.
  • In person: visit the clerk's office and request a copy. You will need the case number or sufficient identifying information (party name, approximate filing date).
  • By mail: send a written request specifying the case number, document type, and contact information. Include a check or money order to cover the fees.

Main office address of the clerk:
