St. Lucie County Jail Roster

The St. Lucie County Inmate Roster is a public resource that allows anyone to check if a specific person is in custody at the county jail in the state of Florida. To search for publicly available information about current and recently released inmates, use StLucieCourt.us. The official roster is maintained by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office and is regularly updated through the online Inmate Lookup system. Additionally, information can be obtained by calling the jail or visiting the facility in person. The roster shows individuals currently in custody as well as those released within the last five days — a tool for public transparency as provided by Florida law.

Search Current Inmates in St. Lucie Jail

There are several ways to find out if a person is in the St. Lucie County Jail.

Online Search

  1. Go to the Inmate Lookup page on the Sheriff's website.
  2. Enter a partial or full last name or booking number.
  3. Click the search button — the system will display a list of individuals matching the criteria.
  4. Select the desired record to view details: date of arrest, charges, bail amount, and place of detention.

The system displays inmates currently in custody as well as individuals within five days of release. Juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

To search for court cases related to an arrest, use the Court Case Search portal of the County Clerk or the general Public Search section. Public court record searches are also available on StLucieCourt.us.

By Phone

Call the jail's main line. An operator can confirm if a specific person is in custody if you provide the full legal name or booking number. Do not use this number for emergencies — contact 911 instead.

In-Person Visit

Visit the lobby of the St. Lucie County Jail and approach the information window. It is advisable to have the person's full name and, if possible, date of birth.

Find St. Lucie Jail Booking Records Online

When a person is brought to jail, a booking record is created. This document records the moment the detainee is taken into custody and contains a set of key data:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of booking
  • Charges
  • Arresting agency (sheriff, city police, other agency)
  • Photo of the detainee
  • Bail information, if set

Most of this information is available through the online roster. Simply find the person via Inmate Lookup and open their card — it will list the booking number, charges, and bail status.

The Sheriff also publishes daily arrest information, where you can view arrest affidavits and reports. If you need an official document — such as a certified copy of an arrest record — submit a public records request directly to the Sheriff's Office. This right is guaranteed by Chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes (Florida Public Records Law).

For court records arising after an arrest (indictments, court rulings, case status), contact the Criminal Division of the Court Clerk. Felonies are handled by Circuit Criminal, and misdemeanors by County Criminal.

Search the St. Lucie Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The online roster supports two main search methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the last name in the appropriate field. You can enter just a few initial letters — the system will show all inmates whose last name starts with those characters. If the last name is common, add the first name to narrow the results.

Some practical tips:

  • Check the spelling — even one extra letter can lead to an empty result.
  • Try spelling variations if the last name can be transliterated differently.
  • If unsure of the last name, enter only the first three or four letters.

Search by Booking Number

If you know the booking number, enter it instead of the name. This method gives an exact result — each number is unique and linked to a specific record.

What to Do if the Search Shows Nothing

An empty result does not always mean the person was not detained. Here are possible reasons:

  1. The person has not yet been processed — it may take several hours between physical arrest and the record appearing in the system.
  2. The person has already been released, and more than five days have passed since the release.
  3. The last name was entered incorrectly or recorded in the system differently than expected.
  4. The person is held in another facility or county.

In such cases, call the jail directly at (772) 462-3232.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in St. Lucie

The inmate roster on the Sheriff's website is updated regularly throughout the day. However, there is usually a delay between the actual arrest and the record appearing in the online system — from several minutes to several hours, depending on the facility's workload and data processing speed.

Main limitations to be aware of:

  • Booking delay. The processing procedure (photographing, fingerprinting, medical examination) can take several hours. The record will not appear in the system until this process is completed.
  • Disappearance of records after release. The system shows inmates only within five days of their release. After this period, the record no longer appears in the online search.
  • Not an archive. The roster reflects the current custody status. It does not replace a full arrest history or criminal database. To check criminal history, use FDLE resources, including the wanted persons search.
  • Data entry errors. Sometimes the last name or other data is entered incorrectly, complicating the search.

If you need information about past arrests or closed cases, submit a public records request to the Sheriff's Office or check court records through the Court Clerk. Obtaining official documents may require a written request in accordance with Florida Statute §119.
